Ghostly Highlights of the Gothic Quarter
On this Barcelona ghost walk, you’ll discover:
- The Vampire of Raval – Dark Legend Just off La Rambla – Discover the chilling tale of the “Vampire of Raval”, a woman accused of abducting children and selling their remains as medicine. This infamous legend from the backstreets just off La Rambla remains one of Barcelona’s darkest ghost stories, and a haunting highlight of our Barcelona ghost tour.
- Gran Teatre del Liceu – Barcelona’s Cursed Theatre – The elegant Liceu Theatre hides a cursed history: it has burned down twice and was once destroyed by a bomb. Each time it was rebuilt, but tragedy seemed to follow. As we pause outside this La Rambla landmark, you’ll hear how its past earned it a reputation as one of the most haunted theatres in Europe.
- Plaça de Sant Felip Neri – Ghosts of the Civil War – In the heart of the Gothic Quarter lies the Plaça de Sant Felip Neri, a peaceful square with a tragic past. During the Spanish Civil War, bombs ordered by Franco’s forces killed dozens of children here. The pockmarked walls of the church still bear the scars — and visitors often speak of the restless presence that lingers.
-
- Plaça del Rei – Columbus and the Shadows of Empire – At the historic Plaça del Rei, Christopher Columbus returned from his first voyage to the Americas and reported to King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella. While celebrated as a triumph, this moment also marked the beginning of colonization, suffering, and enslavement of indigenous peoples. The grandeur of this medieval square hides a darker legacy — a story we reveal on our Barcelona ghost walk.
Each stop is carefully chosen to immerse you in Barcelona’s dark past and spooky folklore.
